Operationalizing the concept of culture
Descrição
Current conceptualizations of culture are broad and non-specific, and “culture” is difficult to operationalize. But operationalizing this concept is necessary in order to understand what specific cultural variables are affecting the expression of neuropsychological variables. Instead of comparing the performance of Western samples versus Eastern samples, the author of this chapter proposes a different approach to studying the influence of culture on neuropsychological practices. It is suggested that a multivariate analysis approach that includes specific categories of cultural practices as independent variables, and the performance on neuropsychological variables as the dependent variables has the potential to identify what aspects of cultural diversity are most influential on neuropsychological test performance.Fil: Fernández, Alberto Luis.
