Our historic moment it’s marked by the consolidation of a culture of consumption that don’t
acknowledges distinctions between class, gender and age, imposing to all the same lifestyle,
whose imperative is consumerism. In this scenario, children grown up tending to the many
impositions that the consumerism environment solicits, adjusting itself to it. The psychoanalyst
D. Winnicott points that the environment has a founding nature in the subjective construction
of the child, because, in a sufficiently good context, it favors the creation of a manner of self
and how to relate creatively with the world. However, if the environment is intrusive, it ends
suffocating the expansion of the creation of the self, that is, the creativity. Therefore, this
research have as general objective to discuss in what manner the consumerism environment can
intervene in the children’s creativity today. We begin this research building a vision about these
individual in the basis of this psychoanalytic reference. Then, we characterize the consumerism
environment to which the children relates nowadays. Lastly, we discuss the implications that
the invasive environment of consumption has in the children’s creativity. For that, it was made
a qualitative research.
