Thousands of people are forced to leave their hometown searching for a better life conditions in another country for the reasons of persecution, war, epidemics, job opportunities, and more. With a purpose of promoting the integration in the new society and supporting the most urgent demands, especially in issues related to the language acquisition in a sensitive and welcoming way for this group, the Portuguese Language as an Instrument of Reception (PLAc) has gained relevance in the teaching of Additional Language area for migrants and people in status of refugees. However, with the advent of COVID-19 pandemic, it has become even more challenging to teach the language for this vulnerable group. The face-to-face classes had to be suspended, respecting the social isolation and due to this policy, new practices have been designed. Therefore, the aim of this present work is to discuss and reflect about new approaches thoughts by the teachers, in specific, the practices developed for UNISINOS PLAc’s group in the city of Esteio in this context of remote classes. For this work, I conducted a qualitative research and interpretative method involving semi-structured interviews guided by some questions with two scholarship students who are part of the group, aiming at verifying how the classes were reorganized, the challenges related to pedagogical practices and the expectations of teachers for the future. From the analyzes, I present reflections involving the challenges of this specific context during the pandemic.
