Child abuse can leave important marks and gaps in the life and psychic development of the victim child that will shape your personality according to your experiences, and carry with you marks and consequences of this violence. Psychopathy, in turn, is a Personality Disorder that is characterized mainly by callous unemotional, lack of remorse and empathy, as well as antisocial behaviors. It is still sought to understand how this construct is developed and formed, not having a single etiology for this. This study aimed to conduct a systematic review in the international Pubmed database, of empirical articles published between 1975 and 2019 that evaluated the relationship between maltreatment and psychopathy. Sixteen articles were contemplated in this study under the inclusion criteria, and the instruments used for each evaluation were analyzed, as the results obtained regarding the relationship between maltreatment and psychopathy. The results show that there is a significant relationship between child abuse and the development of psychopathy traits in adulthood. However, no considerable data were found regarding the prevalence of any specific maltreatment under the development of psychopathy. The data found in the research are significant and are in line with other studies. It is suggested to carry out further studies that address the relationship between violence in childhood and Psychopathy.
