This research analyzes the main bases that supported women to entering representative politics in the city of Caxias, Maranhão, from 1992 to 2016. Considering this, we have set the following objectives: to understand the process of women's organization as political subjects throughout the twentieth century, starting by the deprivation, segregation, control and restrictions, of the most different degrees, to which they were exposed, we point out the articulations made in the national constituent process of 1987, as well as the action strategies for the approval of Legislation of Gender Quotas for the Legislature and its influence on women's participation in the City Councils; to analyze the relationship between the feminist movement and women's opportunities for access to political representation in the municipal legislative body; to analyze the strategies women used in electoral campaigns for the municipal legislature of Caxias, Maranhão, from 1992 to 2016, examining the similarities and differences between the group of female city councilors and women's campaigns; to analyze the political trajectory of the female city councilors, in Caxias, who show differences from others, and to see if there is any kind of kinship between those women, or between them and other politicians. As methodological tools we used prosopography and oral sources. From the analysis of the group of Caxias councilors' profile, we observed the use of kinship relations by most of them, and their name is an element that distinguishes them from other candidates.Nenhuma
