The use of product design methods is a current and relevant topic, since some organizations are looking for software to solve problems that are not fully understood. Even in cases where there is previous knowledge about business processes, companies do not always focus on understanding the problem to find the best solutions. This article aims to analyze the importance of using product design techniques in the development of digital business for SoftDesign client Mãos Verdes, as well as to identify the methods and practices proposed by the organization to define the digital product with the customer. Then, present how the validation structuring of the product occurred and how it supported to define their vision. Finally, identify the gains for the Mãos Verdes with the execution of these activities, denominated as a preliminary project. The proposed approach is qualitative, descriptive in nature. The information was collected through the analysis of documents and the preparation of a semi structured interview script, applied in person at the company and at the client. The results identified in this study show the importance of applying the business model canvas and design thinking techniques to help companies understand their problems and the needs of the people involved in each process. In that way it’s possible to discover and define the product vision and propose the best alternatives for deliver as much value as possible.
