The prevention of accidents and environmental liabilities, as well as risks of Safety, Occupational Health and Environment is a sustainable practice of growth due to the reduction of accidents and environmental incidents, insurance costs, labor issues and others. In addition, it guarantees the business operation with qualified workforce, reduction of losses, satisfaction of employees, shareholders and customers. These practices reinforce the commitment of company’s stakeholders that choose work with Safety as a Core Value. All injuries are preventable and, when they do occur, it represents a significant impact on the injured person and his family, as well as a charge for the whole society. The leadership commitment is one of the main factors of success for the accidents elimination, which must be consistent, visible and sincere. In this way, a safety culture should be implemented
through Felt Leadership in safety to guarantee that the examples of safety leader’s behavior are followed by everyone in the company. It’s also important to reinforce the employees and contractor’s safety commitment is an essential pillar to reach the "Zero Sustainable Accidents". This study is related to a statistical analysis of accidents in a food industrial plant, which has a high level of focus in preventing accidents in all operations. This study aims to create a plan for the elimination of undesirable accidents, focusing on hands and fingers injuries, which represented 42% of accidents in the period of 2012 to 2016 in that company.
