The health conditions of teachers and other workers, in general, are essentially related to the relationships between the demands and forms of performing the work service, the workloads, derived from the context and the characteristics of their organization. The evaluation of these elements, the working conditions, the health of the teacher, the work environment and the current health situations allow to increase the degree of understanding of the perception of these conditions, of the risks and evidences of the process of illness. In this context, the present study had the objective of evaluating the health situation of the professors of Uema (State University of Maranhão), Campus Paulo VI, in São Luís, and, from there, elaborating a Health Promotion Program. It is a descriptive research, of quantitative approach of the transversal type. It was held at the State University of Maranhão. Data collection related to sociodemographic conditions occurred with documental analysis and 100% (480) of the sample. The health situation of teachers was mapped using a self-administered questionnaire with 50% of the sample (240). It was evidenced that 85% (203) practice physical activity, 93% (223) ingest alcohol, only 7% (17) are smokers, only 6% (14) had pathologies after the beginning of their academic activities. The Self Report Quaestionnaire related to the evaluation of mental suffering, mental health, in the last 30 days, shows a low picture of this pathology among teachers.UEMA – Universidade Estadual do Maranhão
