This paper presents a software quality assurance process improvement initiative in a public ICT organization in order to evolve from a traditional to an agile model for project support and monitoring, focusing on the adoption of agile practices in a quality assurance team. An action research was conducted and team observations, artifact analysis and interviews were made with development and quality assurance teams, in order to collect and analyze improvement opportunities. The results include the approximation of the development and quality assurance teams, improvement of communication between these teams, more agile quality assessments and more aligned to projects, reduction in the number of non-conformities.
