This research study aims to analyze the doctoral theses produced on graduate programs in education, in the period of 2000-2010, about education and its relation to ethnic and racial issues, in order to realize potential directions coming from the statements of these theses. A part on the assumption that since the enactment of Law 10.639 / 03, which made compulsory the teaching of African History and Culture and African-Brazilian in basic education schools, the interest in the topic in graduate programs showed a considerable increase, however it concerns us understand how these works are being built since the construction of knowledge comes from a tensioning field that is the gym. Thus, the relationship between knowledge and power is present and establishes epistemological barriers that formed along the Brazilian history. The research is based on theoretical assumptions of the Bakhtin Circle, especially in the design of dialogism, for the discourses of these theses can only be understood when seized from the subject-author interaction, statement and socio historical conditions. The results of this investigative action demonstrate how the epistemological ruptures are difficult to make changes in beliefs, values and automatically, in pedagogical practices. The analyzed theses refer to this difficulty and become spokesmen of a fight initiated by social movements throughout Brazilian history and remains alive today. The discourses of these thesis have proved, in addition to scientific texts, true manifestos in favor of a society in which racial equality is a true premise.Nenhuma
