Projovem urbano de São Leopoldo/RS: sentidos e significados para a juventude leopoldenses

This research aimed to studying the senses and meanings that youngsters egress from Urban Youngster Program – ProJovem Urbano – assigned to their experience of School Conclusion, High School Conclusion Certificate and admission to College respectively by the conclusion of Urban Youngster Program (PJU), High School National Exam (Enem) and University for all (ProUni). The study has happened with young people that took part and concluded Urban Youngster Program in the city of São Leopoldo, Rio Grande do Sul State, from 2009 to 2010. The choice for studying youngsters egress from Urban Youngster Program is related to my academic and professional formation and for the possibility of studying the public policies for education from the experience of youngsters who were benefited by public policies, so we articulated Urban Youngster Program with other public policies that converged as to their purposes, education increasing of young Brazilians. For the study we chose the Oral History, while as research method and data collection tool the semi structured interview. Among other senses assigned by youngsters to their experience we point out that it represented not only a changing of life after School and High School conclusion, but too personal value and increasing of self esteem, a more decent work achievement and better paid, the possibility of taking courses that requested basic schooling, a personal achievement but too familiar, and the achievement of a profession, among others. Knowing the senses and meanings given by youngsters who were beneficiaries of these Programs helped us to understand the importance, relevance and necessity of public policies for the social field in our country, specialy for education and youth.CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior
