This work undertakes an analysis of the risks perceived and the strategies adopted in the conventional soybean supply chain by the producers and processors of this product in Brazil. The justification and importance of this study is based on the verification of the growing scarcity and difficulty in obtaining conventional soybean by the processors. This situation comes up because the producers are increasingly making the option to cultivate transgenic soybean instead of conventional due to the lower cost and less work in the fields. The main objective of this research was to analyze the strategies that are presently being adopted with the purpose to reduce the conventional soybean supply chain disruption possibilities. In order to attaining this, the study identified the main risks in the conventional soybean supply chain perceived by these actors, and in which way they act to minimize these risks. The risk mitigation measures taken by these actors were compared with the proposed strategies found in the specialized literature on supply chain risk management. This is an exploratory and qualitative research, and it was achieved by a field study with open questionnaires to producers and processors of conventional and transgenic soybean. It was made a content analysis using the word cloud technique with the discourses obtained in the interviews. This technique aimed to evaluate the frequency of expressions related to the perceived risks and to the strategies adopted or suggested by the actors. As main results, it was verified that the producers of conventional soybean perceive the uncertainty of demand to their product as the major risk for their business, what can lead them to the option for transgenic soybean in the future. For them, long-term anticipated contracts is a guarantee that their product will be sold by a price that motivates them to continue with the conventional soybean business. The processors, by their turn, recognize the disruption danger of conventional soybean supply and look for partnerships with the producers, but still without the long-term commitment expected by the last.Nenhuma
