This study aims to describe the career of Prof. Sérgio de Iudicibus, Ph.D in teaching, research and Accountancy in Brazil. A qualitative approach was adopted for this purpose, using resources of oral history and document research. The research data show that Professor Iudicibus has dedicated himself to academic life for five decades. He worked as a teacher and researcher at the University of São Paulo – USP from 1962 to 1999; he taught in the Graduate Program of Accountancy at UNISINOS; he is currently a teacher in the Graduate Program of Accountancy at PUC-SP; he had a decisive role in creating the PhD course in Accountancy at USP. He coordinated projects, he was head of department and director of FEA-USP; he was executive director of Fipecafi; director of inspections at the Central Bank of Brazil; he worked in the Treasury of the state of São Paulo; he taught classes and seminars at foreign universities; he was a trainee and worked abroad for an international audit company; he is author and co-author of many books and articles on Accountancy; his PhD dissertation is considered the first theoretical-accountancy paper on indexation performed in Brazil; he was advisor to many dissertations and theses; he participated in many examination boards for dissertations and theses; he has been honored several times and received titles acknowledging his important contribution to the field of Accountancy. The interviews he gave show traits that are characteristic of thim, such as honesty, ethics, kindness, humanism, humility, fellowship, sense of humor. He is culturally privileged, an excellent pianist, with a great knowledge of classical music and operas, an expert in Italian cuisine and wines and a fanatical fan of Palmeiras soccer team.
