Mães de filhos soropositivos para HIV/AIDS: a voz e o olhar das mulheres a partir das suas histórias de vida

Objective: To analyze attitudes of care experienced by the researched women/mothers, who are inserted in the context of the HIV/Aids epidemic, having as a base their life stories. Methods: Qualitative study carried out in the Serviço de Assistência Especializada – SAE (Specialized Assistance Service), which attends to the soropositive people for HIV/Aids, in the town of São Leopoldo/RS. The method of life stories was used and 9 women/mothers who are positive for HIV/Aids and who have infected children were interviewed. Results: The results show attitudes of care from mothers who are positive for HIV/Aids towards their children infected by vertical transmission. Among these attitudes, we present: a) the mother’s care about guaranteeing their children’s treatment; b) the mother’s care about preparing their children to talk about their condition as positive for HIV/Aids; c) the mother’s care about their children’s future.Conclusions: Conclusions show that care is the way which the mothers in this study haveFundação Universitária para Desenvolvimento do Ensino e da Pesquisa
