Casseta e planeta urgente: do pastiche à carnavalização da televisão

Abstract

The comedy of TV show Casseta & Planeta Urgente and television itself (especially Rede Globo) are subjects of this research, which aims to understand how that show’s nature, structure and genre may reveal some things about TV. The program is analyzed as a re/presentation, in a pastiche (imitation) manner, of the main facts which compose the media’s interest for the week, with a comical approach. It is, therefore, a TV show that makes interesting enuncations about TV Globo itself. We suggest the use of Bakhtin’s notion of carnivalization to define this show as the “town square” of Rede Globo, a territory where nothing is forbidden
