O dilema da cota: uma reflexão sobre as políticas de igualdade racial na universidade brasileira

Abstract

In order to advance the debate on the introduction of quotas in university, this research analyzes a case of a system already deployed an institution of higher education. The work articulates, briefly below, the broad ideas of Anthropology and Sociology, with the focus on the controversy between the terms race and ethnicity. It tries to understand racism through the theory of a social fact and its problematization of stigma in daily life. There is also a history rescue of the presence of the black in Brazil and the construction of his representation in our society, which goes from the declared racist thinking to the myth of racial democracy. All theoretical background serves for the analysis of empirical data, with the aim of contributing to elucidation of the “social shock” caused by the proposals of governmental quota
