The life changes that occur to chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients may cause stress and provoke several lifestyle changes. The purpose of this study was to create a mobile app to facilitate the interaction between the CKD subject and information about the disease, with the aim of simplifying the adaptation process. This was a mixed methods research developed in four phases: First phase: electronic search on LILACS, Medline and BDENF databases, using the keywords “nursing, chronic kidney disease, self-care, life quality” over the period between August 2015 to August 2020. Second phase: situational diagnosis, comprising netnographic research based on the answers to a survey answered by participating members of CKD-related Facebook groups (CKD patients or their carers). Third phase: construction of a mobile app, based on UX design prototyping techniques. Fourth phase: validation and evaluation phase, wherewith the prototype was navigated and assessed, by means of the Validation and Assessment Tool. The data was assessed using the agreement technique, applying the Content Validation Index, resulted in above 80% agreement by the analysis committee. The first and second phases results converge as evidence that the main method of adaptation and promotion of self-care are in the process of health education originated in human relations. Likewise, the interventions are in agreement, verified on Callista Roy Adaptation Model (RAM) theoretical framework applied in nursing diagnosis. It confirmed the importance of social and professional relations in health education. In the third phase, the data was related to RAM, generating the composition of the app prototype, built with FIGMA design tool. The products generated in this research were: Integrative Review, App construction, App validation. It was possible to conclude that the adaptation process occurs through the knowledge acquired by care, family and socially, where an empathic environment favours the motivation to self-care. In the digital era these are viable on mHealths technology, which answers to research questions and reaching its goals. It became evident the importance of interdisciplinarity, which has obtained positive and validated results. This study contributes to nursing, CKD patients and their carers, as it promotes better quality of life and employs digital technology.
