As a documentary photographer, Brazilian João Ripper has travelled his vast country and lived with different communities, which he had pictured for the purpose of leading photography towards the service of human rights. Through his project Imagens Humanas (Human Images) he portrays the conflicts endured by different social groups: access to land, housing, slavery, and child labor. In this interview, Ripper reflects on his professional work, his experiences and learning instances, as well as his responsibility to communicate those realities, which he has assumed from a place of affection and fondness (bien querer) in order to show the world the beauty of those considered others.Como fotógrafo documental, el brasileño João Ripper ha recorrido su extenso país y convivido con diversas comunidades, a las que ha retratado con el propósito de orientar la fotografía al servicio de los derechos humanos. A través de su proyecto Imagens Humanas documenta los conflictos que afectan a distintos grupos sociales: acceso a tierras, vivienda, esclavitud y trabajo infantil. En esta entrevista, Ripper reflexiona sobre su labor profesional, sus experiencias y aprendizajes, así como sobre la responsabilidad de ser comunicador de esas realidades. Es una labor que lleva adelante desde el bien querer, con el objetivo de mostrarle al mundo la belleza de aquellos considerados otros.
