The term quality of life (QOL) is used in a broad and generic, there is no consensus about its definition. QOL may be associated with health status (quality of life in health) considering the individual's ability to live fully. Some diseases affect the QOL of individuals, among them stands out cancer. Colon cancer is the leading cause of making an intestinal stoma. The realization of a stoma may expose the patient to feelings such as fear, distress, anxiety influencing your way to bond with your family and with your own body and changing their QOL. One of the tools created specifically to evaluate the QOL of ostomy patients is the City of Hope - Quality of Life - Ostomy Questionnaire (COH-QOL-OQ). This research is a study transversal had as assessed QOL and sociodemographic and clinical profile of ostomy patients in the city of Teutonia. The interviews were guided by two closed questionnaires. The first outlined the sociodemographic and clinical profile of the patients and the second (COH-QOL-OQ) assessed four dimensions of QOL, namely: physical well-being, psychological, social and spiritual. Dimension in physical well-being, we found the lowest mean score of 1.62 points. The psychological well-being had an average of 4.76. The social dimension showed average score of 3.85 points. In relation to spiritual well-being scale, found the highest score of the survey with an average of 7.91 points. The overall QOL was found an average score of 4.21 (SD = 0.31), representing a moderate impact of stoma quality of life of ostomates. Despite the limited sample size, this study certainly contributes to a reflection about the QOL of ostomy patients, can be used in comparisons with studies using the same methodology.en
