Context and setting A new course designed to
provide all Year 5 students with consistent and
integrated exposure to common problems in the
emergency ward was developed as a critical pilot
course as part of a comprehensive curricular reform
programme at Javeriana University School of
Medicine, in Bogota, Colombia.
