| dc.description.abstract | The article addresses the theme of the elderly deprived of liberty and
highlights the need to implement public policies for them, when they are collected in
the Brazilian prison system. In this sense, the present research intends to identify the
reality of the elderly in the penitentiary system, in view of the constant violations of
Human Rights that affect older people who are deprived of their liberty. To this end, a
brief overview of the current legislation is carried out, in order to identify public
policies that enable the realization of the human rights of the elderly prisoner. This is
a qualitative bibliographic study, which aims to contribute to the identification of
needs inherent to old age, especially when potentiated in prison considering the
precarious reality of Brazilian prisons. | en |
