O trabalho no processo de ressocialização do preso: a experiência do sistema penitenciário de Aparecida de Goiânia
Description
Brazil is in the ranking of countries with the highest prison mass in the world and recidivism due to limits on its ability to re-socialize and generate opportunities for a dignified life for egresses. This dissertation aims to analyze the role of work provided by private companies and the State, in the process of resocialization of prisoners in the penitentiary system of Aparecida de Goiânia-GO. The methodology consisted of qualitative and quantitative research, developed through a bibliographic and documentary study and interviews with 38 prisoners from the universe of 173 (out of 6,228 prisoners) who worked, in October 2017, in the penitentiary system of Aparecida de Goiânia. The prisoners interviewed are women and men between 18 and 64 years of working age. The results show that work is relevant to self-esteem, responsibility, being in a better environment, learning, etc. The importance of the family was highlighted. Approximately 50% of respondents would mention “making the family proud” as their main motivation for work, above “penalty relief”. The study concludes that work alone does not re-socialize, requiring other public policies, such as access to education, health, dignity for family members during visits, immediate access of the family to the prisoner as soon as he is collected and individual and group psychological care, to to prevent criminal recidivism.Nenhuma
