Resistance training can be considered a means to achieve the physical and social well-being of the human. However, the overload of training and the new aesthetic trends of society, combined with the lack of guidance, can entail risks related to the appearance of injuries in the musculoskeletal system. Thus, the aim of the present study was to verify the prevalence of injuries in bodybuilding practitioners in the gyms in the city of Garibaldi / RS. The research included 154 participants of both genres from 5 gyms in the city of Garibaldi / RS, aged 18 to 60 years old, who have been performing resistance training for more than six months. The practitioners were submitted to a questionnaire proposed by Rolla et al. (2004), which mainly assesses the prevalence of injuries in the fitness environment. For statistical treatment, the SPSS 21.0 software was used, to assess associations, the chi-square test (X2 ) was performed. The level of significance adopted was 5%. The results indicate that the shoulder (42.1%) is the anatomical site most cited by the subjects, and muscle strains (15.6%) and tendinopathies (15.6%) are the most frequent injuries in resistance training practitioners. This fact deserves the attention of physical education professionals in the application of the resistance training, raising awareness around the risks related to the practice of the modality.pt_BR
