dc.description.abstractThis research intends to understand the resonances of corporate fusions and incorporations (F&I) on the health of employees. It has 4 papers: the first two are critic reviews of literature about organizational culture and work psychodynamic (PDT) from 1970 until 2011. The third one is about the data base of 7.042 people attended between 2002 and 2012, at the Reference Center for Worker´s Health. The illness risk was analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics, using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. The error margin was 5,0% with intervals of 95% of reliability. The results showed risks related with accidents, ergonomic factors, LER/DOT and mental disturbances. There are evidences that suffering and risks are transformed into illness. The most common illnesses are LER/DOT and mental disturbances. Women showed higher vulnerability to suffering and illness. The fourth paper presents the analysis of the content of 9 interviews, individual and semi directed, made with 8 men and 1 woman, about defense strategies and ways of coping with life´s suffering of these employees, according to PDT. Intensely competitive and under restructuration environments impose new rhythms of production, dynamism, high performance and quick adaptation to the modes of working. To deal with anxiety and fear of unemployment, the employees tend to deny the suffering and submit themselves to the exigencies and standards of production. There are evidences of transformations of defenses into social pathologies, as overwork and volunteer servitude.eng
