These days, information that is on the web resides in structures useful for people, but not convenient for handling it using computers. The so -called Semantic Web or Web 3.0 is based on the use of ontologies to represent areas of knowledge, and it is considered by experts as the next step in the evolution of how we store and manage information. The present work aims to improve navigation on large graphs that represent ontologies, within a tool that uses web technologies called WebVOWL. The elements, relationships between them, and the labels, cause that navigation on a big graph becomes little manageable for users. The use of a miniature zoomed out view (called minimap or minimap view) is the main contribution of this work, and is presented as a way to help the user analyze a specific part of the graph in greater detail. The two most important concepts to understand the theory on which the WebVOWL editor is built on are OWL and VOWL. Information about three ontology visual izers based on web technologies is shown as way to help better understand this type of tools; TopBraid, Protégé and WebVOWL itself. Details of important concepts to understand WebVOWL are listed, trying to explain to the user why this editor in much more than a pretty animation of a graph in which the components can be dragged. The steps that were necessary to add a minima pto the WebVOWL code for a better navigation over the ontologiesare described. It is mentioned how to configure a pair of development tools, the strategy followed for coding and the reason and intention of the algorithms developed. Finally, results and conclusions obtained are shown, as well as some possible future improvements.es
