Description
Germany is known worldwide for being the country of automobiles. This work
addresses the history of the modern automobile, created in the state of Baden
Württemberg, as well as the development of the sector in world terms. It is in this
region that automakers and suppliers, several universities and research institutes and
an active public sector are found, giving rise to an automotive cluster in the area. This
cluster is one of the biggest and most successful in the world, considering its
competitive advantage and its international projection. Furthermore, it is Germany's
largest vehicle producer and exporter. Therefore, the objective of this work was to
explore the characteristics of the Baden Württemberg automotive cluster, analyzing
the importance of innovation for the acquisition of a competitive advantage and for
international projection. It was sought to examine: the characteristics of cluster
formation; the factors that enable the creation of a competitive advantage; the
development of a smart power strategy; and the importance of regional integration and
involved projects for investment in technology and innovation.
