In the last decades, the formation of business networks has manifested itself as a strategy to sustain companies in their markets, improving the competitiveness of small and medium-sized companies in several sectors of the productive chain. Over time, it becomes necessary for business networks to seek strategies for their growth, attracting new members and expanding their scope of service. In view of this, the strategy of intecooperation in business networks emerges as a strategy of growth where the complementarity of the networks helps to achieve common goals, in addition to keeping the networks attractive to its participants, as well as to new associates. In this sense, it is necessary to study the factors that propel and restrict the networks in adhering to the strategy of intercooperation. The present study made it possible to understand and analyze the impact of the propelling and restrictive factors on the intention of intercooperation in business networks. The study is composed of mixed methods, in which the quantitative step is designed by the survey technique with 156 respondents associated with business networks and, from this research, the main propelling and restrictive factors that affect the adoption of intercooperation in business networks were analyzed. Based on the understanding of the factors and the impact of these on the intention of intercooperation, a case study was carried out, where we interviewed 05 network managers that belong to the intercooperation process. The study demonstrated managerial and theoretical contributions regarding the identification of the propelling and restrictive factors and their dimensions and their impact on the intention of the business networks to adopt growth strategies through intercooperation. The study, through quantitative and qualitative steps, fulfills the proposed requirements, showing that those associated with business networks identify the process of intercooperation as a viable way of sustained growth in business networks.
