The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship of design principles with the performance of the Supply Chain, proposing a new theoretical approach for the Supply Chain that observes, together, its design and performance, from the theoretical lens of Construtal Theory. The research met the requirements of the survey method for data collection and briefly involved: (I) Interviews with experts to validate the factors found in the theory; (II) Application of the questionnaire in the test phase; (III) Application of the collection instrument in the sampling plan. For data analysis, the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique was used. The results supported the 8 research hypotheses tested. The evidences observed in the empirical field supported the theoretical model that gave rise to the proposal of a new theory: the Supply Chain Constructal Theory. In this proposal, Supply Chains are considered manufactured systems and are governed by the same law of constructivist physics: the constructal law.en
