The present study aimed to discuss the cooperative education. This way, the study will deepen the Financial Education Training Program with members of Cooperativa Sicredi Pioneira RS, Pinhal Alto agency, Nova Petrópolis, Rio Grande do Sul (RS). The methodology used was a case study with semi-structured and structured interviews. The main references of this research were the concept of cooperativism and the concept of cooperative efficiency, having as a guide the principles of cooperativism, specifically the fifth principle that is “Education Training and Information”. The related problem was to understand the reasons that lead members to participate or not in financial education training meetings. The final considerations of this study pointed out that the main arguments to low participation are related to improvement needs on the communication plan, in order to sensitize members to increase participation, issues that point as suggestions for future research.
