dc.description.abstract | This research investigated the relationship between Strategic Design and innovation with emerging technologies in Brazilian organizations, within the context of Industry 4.0. To do so, we first understood the concepts related to the current technological paradigm and its possible relationship with Strategic Design, in order to identify hypotheses of design agency as an enabler in innovation processes with emerging technologies. The knowledge generated from the literature review and a systematic analysis served as a basis for planning and executing an exploratory research divided into three moments. Initially, a new systematic analysis was carried out, exploring a larger number of databases, to identify the current situation of scientific research on design in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Afterwards, 10 in-depth interviews were conducted with four groups of informants: managers from public and private organizations, academic experts in Industry 4.0, Strategic Design consultants and academic experts in Strategic Design. The interviews made it possible to identify how organizations are innovating with technology and what relationships these practices have with Strategic Design. Finally, a scenario workshop for Strategic Design was organized to broaden the field of discussion of the theme and explore possibilities for the discipline. The results show that the obstacles faced by Brazilian organizations to innovate with emerging technologies can be overcome by Strategic Design processes, as they support the formation of the strategic vision and cultural change. In addition, guidelines were proposed for the future development of project processes guided by Strategic Design that can support strategies and technological innovation initiatives aligned with the new paradigm of Industry 4.0. | en |
