A influência das lógicas institucionais nos contratos individuais de microcrédito : o caso de um banco comercial brasileiro
Description
Microcredit emerged as a tool to fight poverty through the banking of those excluded from the financial system, however, over time, the proposal ended up incorporating features of traditional financial institutions. This has made Microcredit Institutions face the challenge of balancing conflicting institutional logics, that made it becoming hybrid institutions, because while seeking financial surpluses also seek the alleviation of poverty through banking. Thus, the objective of this study was to understand how institutional logics influence the processes of risk reduction - screening and monitoring - and enforcement, in individual microcredit contracts in a commercial bank. In order to reach the proposed objective, a single case study was conducted in a large Brazilian commercial bank, with unique characteristics. Through the understanding of how a business institution is confronted with the insertion of microcredit in its operation, it has been identified that in such context, the logic of profit is impermeable by the hybrid logic. It has also been possible to identify that the influence of current logic on an organization can lead the it to adopt a more rigid and traditional stance in its credit analysis, rather than adopting an inclusive stance. The findings of the research contribute to the theoretical and managerial field, in a way that presents evidences of how institutional logics influence the microcredit activity and brings insights so that managers and decision makers can make a healthy and effective management in microcredit institutions.CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior
