dc.description.abstract | This study aims to measure the lead time and work-in-process in a corrugated cardboard manufacture subject to seasonality of demand. Concepts of lead time, inventory and demand forecasting methods were reviewed. It was collected 50 production orders per month for the 12 months under analysis on a production line where 60% of orders are subject to seasonality of demand. The research method was quantitative modeling. The results showed that the lead time and finished inventory are influenced by the seasonality of demand, mainly by the company's strategy of anticipating future production orders, thus avoiding equipment idleness and increase in waste generation over time. The study presents a correlation chart that compensates for seasonality and unifies the lead time values. Using this correlation chart, it is possible to predict the behavior of the lead time and define management actions to control them, improving the terms and reliability of deliveries. | en |
