Although the areas of projects in the Information Technology business is usually connected to the bleeding edge in methodologies and management processes, there is an inportant gap in terms of risk management, both in the practices and the tools that support this activity. The motivation of this research is to understand and, at the same time to demonstrate – bringing to the focus of attention of leaders, managers and project managers – how and how much the risk management activity can guide I.T. projects towards success. To achieve that, a situational diagnose of the company object of this study is layed out, where it is intended to:
a) Characterize the market, the business, the activities and the position of the company, as well as the formal knowledge and the practical experience in projects of current company leaderships;describe and graphically represent the current scenario of risk management, enumerating indicators, practices, methodologies and analysis tools used by leaders, managers and project managers; understand how the produced knowledge regarding management is stored and used for managerial activities across the enterprise;diagnose and propose an improvement action for the risk management process and also the project management process as a whole, based on three pillars: structure, method and tool.
