dc.description.abstractThe present study has as theme the urban occupations in environmental preservation areas specifically gated communities. The subject matter that of the research is about the impact that urban occupations cause in fragile environmental areas, which, for having a gorgeous landscape, attract the development of gated communities. Then. The main topic of this work is to analyze how the ecosystem of the sand dunes behave, and identify the possible environmental impacts caused by the urbanization. So, it was chosen as the, purpose of the study the Ocean Side Condominium, which is located on the southern coast of Torres, RS, on the shore of the sand dunes at Riveira Beach. As base for this study it was development a reading of different bibliographies, aiming to define the concepts of sand dunes, environmental impacts and gated communities. Also it was needs a review of the laws existents (Federal, State and Municipal Plans) about the protection of sands. The bibliographic reading allowed that it was done later an expositions and analyze of the data collected, joined with the Municipal Environmental Town accordingly to the subject matter, the Ocean Side Condominium. The main results show a necessity of a detailed adjustment for the southern beaches of Torres, as the areas are propitious for urban occupation, since the central area is already consolidated. This research also proves that there is not human action that does not cause impacts to the natural environment, finally, they present a great matter for the maintenance of the ecosystem balance; the previous study for the occupations and natural environments for the definition of pleasantness actions that encourage the preservation of the nature, which is vital for the human being.en
