Espiritualidade e comprometimento organizacional no Colégio dos Jesuítas: impacto de vivências espirituais

Abstract

This study adresses Spirituality and organizational commitment in the Colégio dos Jesuítas: impact from spiritual experiences and aims to understand the effects of the spirituality and organizational commitment relationship on first graders coordinators – Ensino Fundamental 1 – at Colégio dos Jesuítas. From a case study, encompassing participant observation and interviews, this research taps into theoretical references to analyze the coordinators’ discourse so as to understand the effects of spirituality on organizational commitment. Ignatian spirituality provides contribuition to achieve such goal. Commitment, narrowing of affective bond and aligning of personal values with the values of the organization are some of the issues considered. The results point to the fact that individuals enhance their commitment when they nurture involvement with others. It strengthens their sense of community. Ultimately, the work environment is no longer a mere space of operational activities but also allows meaningful bonds which boost commitment to work.
