The present report intends to explain how the implementation of a new curriculum component, the Scientific Initiation, emerges with a perspective of innovation on the current pedagogical practices at Antônio Vieira School. It comes with the purpose of thinking the student in his/her full formation and intends to work the scientific production in an interdisciplinary way, more comprehensive, in what concerns the production of science in the most diverse areas and not only to limit it to a construct exclusively coming from the Science discipline. Realizing from the perception of a still incipient Science work, refered to research produced for the common good, and stating that the investigative formation of educational science aimed for citizenship centered on the use of the science laboratory as a mere practical exercise of theories built in the classroom, the new curricular component emerges as an important educational paradigm centered on the learning and formation of critical and investigative students.
