iAwre: um modelo para cuidado ubíquo de pacientes com transtornos de ansiedade, depressão e estresse utilizando gamificação e biodata

This work proposes iAware a model for patients ubiquitous care with anxiety, depression and stress disorders using gamification and biodata. Depression and anxiety are the most prevalent mental disorders, reaching more than 560 million people worldwide. Because they share many characteristics these two disorders often manifest themselves together. In addition, stress is one of the related factors with depression and anxiety, being relevant in the analysis of these disorders. This study was carried out through a own study on anxiety, depression and stress disorders (TADE), their treatments and the use of gamification as a means of engagement. Two possible contributions were found, first about the gamification effectiveness evaluation, as none of the works tried to analyze the effects of using gamification in TADE treatment. The second after identify that none of the studies used biological data (biodata) for patient monitoring. The iAware monitors and applies interventions for the patient at the most appropriate time, based on the patient’s background history. Thus technologies and tools available were identified for the development and evaluation of iAware effectiveness. Through A/B tests with a clinical population, the degree of effectiveness in the engagement of the patient to the treatment provided by gamification was evaluated. The results obtained through the evaluation of the interaction of the patients indicate that of the patients evaluated the group that used the iAware gamified obtained a greater engagement than the group that used the version without gamification. The patients who used iAware got more occurrences of anxiety at home and in the afternoon and evening shifts. Both patients and psychologists have found the use of iAware useful in the anxiety treatment routine.CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior
