This study aims to understand how the practices constitute representations of subjects in the school environment, in a cultural studies perspective. This case study has been done in a public school in Novo Hamburgo, in order to answer my research question: How are the subjects represented in the attendance records in the school environment? For this propose was performed analysis of the school attendance records from the years of 2016 and 2017. For the study development were used some concepts such as speech, norm, abnormal/ normal, difference and diversity. The documents were analyzed and organized into two categories, according to the positions occupied by the subjects: position of abnormality/ normality and position of non-learning. The document analysis make possible the conclusion that the students are mostly represented as a subjects to correct, realizing the necessity to bring them to the norm, because they are considered undisciplined or non-learners.
