Description
There are several risks involved in the decontamination process of flammable liquid tank trucks. There are also several standards, regulations, resolutions, ordinances, supplementary laws, decrees, environmental licenses, and laws applicable to this process and small enterprises have difficulties in identifying and complying with these pieces of legislation. The objective of this work is to present a critical analysis of the operational risks of a small decontamination company of tank trucks that carry flammable liquids, with focus on the inherent risks of confined space work. The applicable norms and the existing legislation related to this activity were identified and used as basis for the preparation of a customized survey directed to the aforementioned company. During visits and interviews an assessment has been made on whether items met legal standards or not. The use of the survey allowed for a general diagnosis of the company's process regarding health, safety and environmental aspects as well as for the creation of an improvement actions list.
