dc.description.abstract | The society today requires the 24 hours attendance of their demands. But, this creates the need for people who works in shifts, including during the night, which is known, is harmful to those who perform it. Thus, this work presents a literature review about sleep and sleep disorders caused by changing schedules due to work. In this review were used 39 works to describe the chronobiology, sleep physiology, disorders and diseases related to sleep deprivation, existing laws and regulations to mitigate the damage caused by night work, as well as measures to make this activity less aggressive possible.
The main measures proposed are the realization of appropriate shift schedules, encouraging a good physical conditions, including regular medical appointments, night worker’s sleep evaluation and the attempt to provide a sufficiently restorative rest period. | en |
