dc.description.abstract | The governance and competitiveness in the global textile supply chain are currently targeted by the forces of buyers, such as large retailers and pools of branded manufactures overlapping the producers, in other words the governance and competitiveness are buyer-driven in the supply-base. The role of a large department store as a governance and competitiveness inducer in the Brazilian textile chain was analyzed through Gereffi’s Model, which describes the main governance patterns in the global apparel value chain. The concepts of competitive advantages, global value chain and governance patterns in apparel industry were discussed in this case study. This study presents the Brazilian textile industry and Lojas Renner Company. The role of this company as a governance and competitiveness inducer in the Brazilian textile supply chain is discussed and its importance and benefits to the sector strengthening are highlighted. | en |
