This article aims to investigate and analyze the conceptions that some mathematics teachers of the State Public Network Municipality of Gravataí have about mathematical modeling as a teaching methodology in this discipline. For the research. With a qualitative approach was used the methodology of focus group, which is the interaction between the participants and the researcher, which aims to gather data from a focused discussion. With this proposal, after talk about different methodologies known and applied by these teachers, it was presented to the group as a pedagogical alternative, the methodology of Mathematical Modeling. Finally, a semi-structured questionnaire was used to, with him, to know what interest these teachers towards the implementation of Mathematical Modeling in their classes. By analyzing the results, it was found that teachers believe that the methodology adds positively to student learning, but they see difficulties in using it in their classes with the current state of public education program.
