Description
Just as the world is aging rapidly, Brazil is also aging, as seen in the last census with the growth of the elderly population being three times that of the total population. Therefore, this rapid growth of the elderly population, the increased longevity and the changes in functional capacity that accompany aging must be considered in the planning and development of actions that help the elderly stay healthy, independent and maintain their quality of life. In particular for the elderly, tailored and regularly performed physical activity can bring many physical, psychological and social benefits. Nevertheless, there are people who do not want to leave home to develop any type of physical activity, as well as there are those who cannot leave the house. An option for these persons would be to develop a physical activity program in their own residence that is suited to their physical condition and according to their preference. It is for this group that this intervention project was developed, in which the proposal of a domiciliary physical activity program is presented, which will taught by a gerontology specialized physical education professional, aiming at offering the elderly a practice tailored to their individual needs in their home context. The project also brings as a pedagogical proposal the physical training and the evaluations directed to the target public.
