DescriptionThe research aims to understand how the school is and dialogues with the community and what changes have occurred after his deployment. Because it is an ethnographic proposal sought to take into account the Maroons as subjects rather than as victims of the historical process. The theoretical and methodological basis has established itself in a phenomenological approach understood as construction of lived experience, becoming a qualitative research, respecting the life story of the interlocutors. The study highlights the school's contribution to the social development process of the community, through the analysis of interviews with managers, technical education (teacher), teachers, school graduates, older residents and community leaders. The inclusion in the empirical field, whether in the days of classes in periods of full river or on the ebb, the pedagogical meetings, regular meeting of the community association, the feast of the patron saint along with the community's parish priest was salutary to understand the object of study. As a result of data analyzed it was found that the school has an incalculable value for the community's social development because from the proposal focused on the teaching of history and african-Brazilian and African culture Saracura school gains visibility and achievement spaces.
