dc.description.abstractThe Young and Adult People Education is the core of this study. It has the objective to identify possible relations between (dis)continuity of the school pathway of the Federal Program for the Integration of Professional Education and the Basic Education in the Youth and Adult Education (PROEJA) and consequential implications. The study presents a map of Youth and Adult Education (EJA) programs and policies at the federal and state levels (1988 and 2012); including the related ruptures. It identifies the main reasons of (dis)continuity by studying a group of students of PROEJA of the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS), Câmpus Bento Gonçalves. The oral history was conceived as a methodological basis by interviewing six people, who accepted to participate in the research. Among the theorists who supported the analysis we featured Lahire, Arroyo and Freire. The analyzed data permit affirming both the ruptures and the return to school specially occur from combined facts that are connected, in some moments, by common events, even they are visualized in a singular way in the biographies. These facts are nominated plural contexts in this study. It was noticed in the different interviews in this research that financial questions and, consequently, job demand are quoted as one of the reasons to leave and/or return to school.en
