dc.description.abstract | The drugs addiction is certainly a problem of public health That reflects in a demand daily growing people seek recovery, In hospitals, clinics or therapeutic communities. The dependence on psychoactive substances is considered disorder with high rates of relapse and the motivation of patients for maintenance of abstinence and mobilization of an appropriate structure for its treatment is crucial. So this study aimed to investigate the relationship between the emotional aspects and motivational stages in drugs addicts with a history of relapse. This was a quantitative study, involving sixty nine men with a history of at least one relapse and two attempts to treatment. All responded to a questionnaire socio-demographic; the University of Rhode Island Change Assessment (URICA); Beck depression Inventory (BDI) and the Beck Anxiety Inventory(BAI). Observed that the indices of depression and anxiety of the sample were 43.5% with level lightweight and 43.5% with minimum level respectively. Regarding to motivational stages only 1 (1.4%) of the participants are at Precontemplation stage, 36 (52.2%) in Contemplation stage, 23 (33.3%) in Action stage and 9 (13%) of the subjects in Maintenance stage. Were not identified associations between motivational stages and emotional states. Believes that subjects on drugs addiction to enter the environment of therapeutic community, as soon as engage if a timetable of activities in full time involving leisure, sports, spirituality and tasks labor, which reflects directly in their mood, helping them to deal with their unpleasant emotions as well as the craving by the substance. The lack of association between anxiety and depression and motivation stages surprised, therefore expected that the participants by inserting in treatment, express with greater intensity and frequency depressed mood or anxiety, just because they are facing the possibility of change their life style so radical. In this way, suggests monitoring throughout the process of recovery, with the objective of identifying the relevant factors that influence the conscience of the need to remain in treatment and a work focused in family dynamics. | en |
