dc.description.abstract | This study aims for a better understanding of the personal, academic and professional profile of egress students from Higher Education Institutions of Rio Grande do Sul. A field research was carried out through a survey sent by e-mail to a sample of 448 professionals, 242 males and 206 females certified by the Regional Council of Accountancy of Rio Grande do Sul between 1996 and 2005. The main outcomes indicate that: a) the majority chose this professional based on vocation and also on the fact that it represents better job opportunities; b) a considerable number are engaged in some kind of continued educational process, in order to update and improve the quality of services; c) a great number dedicate to accounting services as employees, mainly as controllers, which points to a change in the professional profile, as it tends to approach management; d) there is a good level of satisfaction regarding profession and salary, bearing in mind the variation of 7 to 15 years in the respondents’ working time experien | en |
