Abstract

This study deals with web art, an artistic modality that interacts with the concepts of art and digital technologies of network communication, focusing on the reconfiguration of the role of receiver/user in the development of relationships between artist, work and audience. The general aim is to investigate the reception process of the web dance work 96 Détails, created by Cia. Mulleras, as an attempt to understand how the participation of the user in this process takes place. To reach such objective, the following dimensions, which are part of this communicational and artistic process, are theoretically and methodologically discussed: the work, the artist(s) and the receiver, which is referred to as user. The theoretical background was comprised of Art and Communication concepts, aiming to adequate them to the understanding of aspects required by the problem, related to the hybrid universe of web art and, more specifically, web dance and its reception.
