dc.description.abstract | The research analyses the evaluation and the education quality from the articles that were published in the Revista Brasileira de Estudos Pedagógicos (RBEP). The time
frame of the investigation covered the period that goes from 1944, year of the magazine’s foundation, to 1964, moment of the political rupture in Brazil with the civilmilitary coup. The investigation worked with, therefore, the so-called by
historiography “democratic experience”, and/or “populism”. The Magazine was created as a publicizing means for the pedagogical researches developed by the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira – INEP. The study
analyzed the social and historical construction process of the pedagogical principles for education, especially, in what it referred to the dimensions of evaluation and teaching quality. It became clear that the school, as a systematic and modern
