| dc.description.abstract | The present dissertation, titled Democratic Management and Relation School – Community: A Study about the Experience of Morro da Cruz / Florianópolis SC, analyses a principal’s election experience bonded with the democratic process, through an investigation of a Democratic Management of Education, which became effective from the relation between school and community, accomplished at Lauro Müller Elementary School in Florianópolis in the State of Santa Catarina. The field research led at Lauro Müller School and in the Maciço Central of the Morro da Cruz Forum (organization emerged from articulation among communities in the area, composed by seventeen community nucleus) , has as subjects the School Board and representatives of each school segment, namely parents, students, teachers and other school staff. The Forum coordinator, a community leader, the coordinator of the Forum Committee (actual and former) and the Secretary of Education in the State of Santa Catarina also took part in the process.
